Koosah in Ice 2
Koosah in Ice
Docks and Ice
I arrived at the dock this morning for the Henderson Inlet race, the second to the last of the inlet series, to discover that the boat I crew on, Koosah, was surrounded by a half-inch layer of ice.  Not wanting to destroy the bottom paint trying to ice-break our way out to open water, our skipper announced we wouldn't be going out.  It was too early (and too cold) to start drinking beer, so I turned around and headed back to Seattle.  My car told me it was 23 degrees as I got back on the road.

Anyone know...

...which country uses "chanege"?
Went to Craig's in West Hollywood for dinner last night with our friends Nels, Kari, Jason and Julie.  The atmosphere was pleasant, but the food helped me understand why, when it was written up in the New York Times upon its recent opening, the piece appeared in the Fashion & Style section rather than in Food.  Flying out about noon; looking forward to being back in Seattle.

Had drinks at the Standard in West Hollywood this afternoon. This deck is one of the spots in Los Angeles that captures something essential. This shot was taken and processed all on my iPhone.

Waka!Flocka!Frites!  Also, that was a burger (beef) with bacon and egg in the back.

Airports are a place where real events are carefully excluded. Common bonds do form but only of the loosest kind. Meanwhile, the airport must work to exclude that which is meaningful. The things you need are charged by the pound here. Dont bring it with you here unless it has direct utility. Loved ones are not permitted, as such, but may be allowed only on their own account. In the midst of transit you must give up even your association with a shared temporality; each person is in their own bubble of time, which they have brought along with them and will linger, unwelcome, for days.
