A Weekend on the Eastern Slope

 
On Saturday, we drove to Leavenworth and met up with Nate and Stacey.  On the way east we crossed Snoqualmie, then Blewett.

 
In Leavenworth we walked through town, then to the tasting room of Eagle Creek winery.
 
After an afternoon of winery hopping down the valley, we went back to Nate's new house above Wenatchee.  It's a great big place, including a below-ground (viz. sound proof) music room and a guest suite.  His current dream is to buy the lot below him and grow wine grapes.  Nate made a dinner of filet mignon, greek salad and garlic roasted potatoes.  We washed it down with some Grenache Noir I brought along, then followed it with a glass of rye and played music for a while. 

 
He has a great panoramic view.  At night the lights of downtown Wenatchee are bright.
 
Nate and Stacey have an 18 month old daughter, Kate, and another child on the way.  Kate is energetic and cheerful.
 
 This was our second weekend leaving the city for a day and we've decided we like getting out on the weekends.  Still, neither of us is tempted to stay gone much more than 24 hours.  We took Highway 2 back, over Stevens Pass, and decided Blewett is the much better route.

Let the crowd boo you. They're in the crowd.

Netflix

The automated technologies that surround us in contemporary society sometimes take on strange and wholly unintended roles.  Today, I received a diagnosis of sorts from Netflix, which, in its "Your taste preferences have created this" section, has designated a new subcategory of film, which it now recommends to me each time I log on, as follows:

"Visually-striking Cerebral Movies about Marriage"

I am still waiting to hear from Regence as to whether my mental-health coverage will now cover my Netflix.

Niece and nephew.  We went out to watch my nephew Aidan's soccer game - he was awarded "Player of the Game".  

India: A Skeletal Itinerary

India plans have solidified. We are flying into Bangalore/Bengalaru, staying in the area for a few days.

Then we fly to Goa for a couple of days and stay at the Lalit Goa:
 

 

Then we go to Mumbai/Bombay,

which is a very large, cosmopolitan city, but we will stay at the Marriott on the beach:

 

Then we go back to Bangalore.  At some point, we will also go to Mysore:
