So, I am at the end of day one of a two-day trial. When I am in and around such times in my life and am allowed some small portion of free time I refer back to my influences with regard to such things. My influences in this context generally are those people (whether fictional or real) that have some special combination of focus, vision, persuasion and the ability to be ruthless when the circumstances require it. It may be General Patton (whether George C. Scott's or the real one), Napoleon, Michael Corleone or, more recently, Daniel Plainview of There Will Be Blood.

Accordingly, I found myself watching There Will Be Blood over the past couple of days, for the _____teenth time, and cruising around online and came across this review. It is an excellent review; Dargis really gets it. If you haven't seen this movie, that is a crime against art.
